SAN DIEGO YOGA FESTIVAL IN ITS FOURTH YEAR PROVIDING YOGA TO THOUSANDS ON THE BEACH IN IMPERIAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA IN SEPTEMBER 9-10, 2023 AFTER A THREE YEAR BREAK FROM THE PANDEMIC
San Diego Yoga Festival is back after 3 years of waiting to return due to the Covid pandemic. The event was originally supposed to happen May 29-June 1, 2020 and now after being postponed the event is back and anticipating to be bigger than ever.
San Diego Yoga Festival is happening in Imperial Beach, California on September 9-10, 2023 for its official fourth year. This fun and healthy event provides non-stop yoga, meditation, and holistic health classes throughout the day on the beach! The event is open to all people and will provide something of value to those who love yoga or those that are brand new or curious on how to live a more holistic lifestyle. Attendees can look forward to all styles of yoga and meditation including classes for peace and relaxation along with classes power and strength! We are featuring the best teachers in San Diego and flying in a few teachers from Hawaii + the east coast! See class descriptions here.
The event will include non-stop classes from 9:30 am to sunset right on the beach along with a free vending area free + open to the public that will have around 50 vendors offering healthy food, holistic products and healing services. Participants can shop, eat, do yoga, meditate, and learn other holistic health activities as the waves crash right next to them.
The event is open to all ages! It is offering a kid’s yoga center that will offer fun and healthy kid’s yoga classes for those ages 3-10. See schedule here.
The event is also having a section dedicated to offering various yoga classes throughout the weekend in Spanish to honor our Spanish speaking population! See schedule here.

This year the festival is offering tickets at a discounted rate of over 65% to help everyone with the financial hardships most people have generally had to face the past few years. There will be lots of free experiences at the event + tickets to enter classes are anywhere from $20-$50. Portions of the money collected are donated to a yoga teacher scholarship helping there to be more affordable yoga in the community.
SDYF founder, Shawna Schenk is beyond grateful that the event is happening again.
“The thousands of people gathered for this event in 2019 and we were anticipating the 2020 because the event is just such a beautiful thing for the community. In 2019, we had 4.000 attendees and everyone was smiling and making new friends. No one cared if you could touch your toes or were flexible. Everyone just wanted to work on themselves and become healthier and better people. This just shows the power of yoga and being out in nature on the beach doing healthy activities: it makes you happier and nicer. At the closing ceremony in 2019, we joked as we all agreed we never hugged so many strangers. I cannot wait to do it again this year,” shared Schenk.
The festival is anticipating at least 5,000 people.
