Natural Inflammation Busters

Inflammation within the body is a natural process that has many benefits. When you’re injured, for example, your body responds with inflammation so that you can recover. However, an excessive amount of inflammation can be damaging. Similarly, if your body triggers the inflammatory response when there’s no threat, such as an injury, it can result in pain, discomfort, digestive issues, fatigue, brain fog, and many other symptoms.
Due to this, it’s important to reduce excessive inflammation and prevent your body’s immune system from being too sensitive. Fortunately, nature provides us with many natural inflammation busters, including:
Fruits
Not all fruits are known for reducing inflammation, but strawberries, cherries, blueberries, and oranges certainly are. Consuming them regularly can be a great way to keep inflammation in check, so be sure to make them a part of your diet if you can. Remember – you don’t have to eat fruits raw or whole to get the benefits. Throw them into a smoothie or make them part of a dessert if you want to increase your intake.
Yoga
Many studies have shown that yoga relieves inflammation and minimizes stress within the body. In particular, Child’s pose, Triangle pose, and Bridge pose are believed to be effective at reducing inflammation. Already known for its stress-relieving and anxiety-reducing effects, your daily Asanas could play an important role in healing your body and protecting it from a variety of physical ailments.
DMSO
Used as a topical agent, dimethyl sulfoxide, is capable of penetrating the skin and having a beneficial effect on inflammation. Most people use DMSO in the form of a gel or liquid so that it’s easy to apply. The organosulfur compound stimulates healing and promotes circulation. Often used for pain relief as well as its anti-inflammatory properties, many people rely on DMSO to relieve the symptoms of nerve damage, arthritis, swelling, joint discomfort, and chronic pain.
Fatty fish
Omega-3 fatty acids are well-known for their ability to reduce inflammation, and you’ll find them in abundance in fatty fish. Incorporating tuna, mackerel, sardines, trout, and/or salmon into your diet will give you a boost of Omega-3 acids and help to minimize inflammation in your body. If you’re not a fan of fish, you can also use high-quality supplements. As your body can’t produce Omega-3 fatty acids on its own, it’s important to add them to your diet if you want to reduce inflammation.
Moderate exercise
If you’re feeling run down because your body’s immune system is in overdrive, you probably don’t fancy doing too much exercise. However, moderate physical activity activates the body’s sympathetic nervous system, which in turn triggers our natural anti-inflammatory response. By increasing the amount of physical activity you’re doing, you could reduce inflammation on a cellular level.
Preventing Inflammation
As well as reducing existing inflammation, it’s essential to consider what you can do to prevent excessive inflammation in the future. A healthy diet and a decent amount of exercise are always beneficial, particularly when it comes to regulating your body’s inflammatory response. However, activities to reduce your stress levels, such as yoga, meditation, and mindfulness, are also highly effective ways to prevent high levels of inflammation affecting your future wellbeing.
