Many of us can get vegetables into our diet. When we have dinner, we almost always have some kind of side dish that is made of vegetables. When we have steak, we have broccoli on the side, or when we have fish we have parsnips on the side, etc. We also have vegetables for snacks, such as crispy corn salsa, avocado on toast, bell pepper fajita wrap, etc. But where we all struggle is fruit. Adding fruit to your diet is tough because they are usually very overpowering. Fruits are very acidic and they tend to give us a stomach ache if we eat too much of them. So, how can we have just enough fruit in our diet and have them every day? Why in drink form of course!
Kiwi and lime, with a twist
This one is simple and always a classic. However, you need to add a twist to this one to make it extra special.
3-5 kiwis, peeled
1 or half cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 cups water
Serve chilled
No sugar! The natural sugar from the fruits should be enough
Add pomegranate pieces *the secret ingredient!
Pomegranates are sour and sweet at the same time, so they will bring a little pop and crunch to your drink and yet, give your drink a little more fluctuation in flavor.
Apple and cinnamon
Spiced apple juice is a killer at parties and just for everyday life. We tend to think that spiced juices are for the fall and winter only, but this is nonsense! You can have this kind of drink any time of year, especially when you feel in the mood for a hit of cinnamon and just need an excuse!
5-6 thin slices of orange
1 or half a stick of cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (add to taste)
Lemon slices for decoration
4 cups apple juice
1 cup water (this goes a long way so be careful not to thin it out too much)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 lemon, sliced thinly
