Third Annual Steamboat Movement Fest To Take Place August 10-13, 2017 In Steamboat Springs, Colorado
PRESS RELEASE FROM STEAMBOAT MOVEMENT FEST
Steamboat Movement Fest is a transformative four-day experience of Consciously Connecting through movement, music, and the great outdoors, while showcasing Steamboat’s talented community of movement teachers, speakers, musicians, and artists.
“We want to bring visitors to Steamboat to experience our magical town, while including the local community in the weekend activities,” says Executive Director, Talaya Thomas. “We will host a free community class at the Steamboat Resort base area as part of our opening ceremonies on Friday, August 11th. This class will be taught by world renowned yoga teacher and musician, Bibi McGill, followed by a free concert by We Dream Dawn.”
In 2015, WE DREAM DAWN quickly grew from a distant dream into a new life when Sage Cook decided to take leave from Elephant Revival, a neo-folk quintet he had helped found in 2006. Fueled by lofty ideals about approaching art while living closer to the land, this new project is honing in on a new sort of American dream.
Bibi McGill defies the mold. The Portland, OR based musical director of Suga Mama (Beyoncé’s ten-piece, all-female band) is not your typical rock star guitarist—she’s also an internationally acclaimed yoga teacher.
Steamboat Movement Fest’s list of presenters is growing daily and includes a diverse and talented combination of yoga teachers, therapists, meditation leaders, storytellers, and practitioners of all spiritual and physical styles. Throughout the weekend attendees will have options for every period of time.
Multiple yoga classes, community forums and panels, hikes, SUP classes or trail rides, may be occurring around the community. Each attendee is encouraged to build his or her own schedule and experiential adventure.
“We feel that the Steamboat and yoga communities both have so much to share and we’re honored to bring them together for another memorable and impactful movement fest,” says Thomas.
