Peaceful Ninjas, Bhakti Fest And After-School All Stars!
Press Release from Peaceful Ninjas
Peaceful Ninjas, Bhakti Fest and After School All Stars are teaming up this year! This is a combined mission that ultimately creates dialogue and viable techniques toward a vision for world peace.
JOSHUA TREE, CA – Peaceful Ninjas announced that they will be bussing 60 youth from the After School All Stars LA program, to Bhakti Festival on September 10th, 2016. The children are at the center of a World Peace initiative supported by a community of peers and adults, at the nation’s largest yoga & mindfulness festival. They will be empowered to connect with their voices to co-create inner peace, that leads to outer peace, and ultimately can inspire to world peace. The agenda is to foster co-creative and non-competitive activities that the children then introduce to their own communities.
Introducing the power of media and film making: At Bhakti Fest, the youth will be creating and participating in a professional documentary on World Peace, called “A Vision of World Peace – Through the Eyes of Youth.” They will also teach and participate in peer led workshops as part of the “Youth World Peace Council,” which aims to provide tools and activities centered around collaboration, compassion, mindfulness, empowerment and harnessing healthy bodies, minds, and spirits.
Pickles Kinneman, an 11 year old entrepreneur and member of Peaceful Ninjas, will be leading her workshop called “Emo” - geared towards emotional expression and release. After being hurt by a group of close friends, Pickles saw this pain as an opportunity - “I draw my ‘emo’s, wrap them up and throw them away as a way to express emotions and then let them go… and then I draw the best possible turnout. I want to help others express their emotions too so they feel better.”
The curriculum encourages children to participate in structured and planned activities, while also having the freedom and flexibility to mindfully make decisions in their playful, and most natural state. The tools help develop curiosity and create a space for growth and confidence within their creativity and state of being.
The initiative continues after the festival. Peaceful Ninjas has been asked to spearhead After School All Stars LA Mindfulness Outreach Program. Students are given the opportunity to take this program into their schools and embed it into their curriculum, in order to collectively grow World Peace within their local communities.
Now more than ever we are being called to come together in our communities to support and
collaborate in the development of collective empowerment programs.
